Plain and simple, don’t do anything that can put yourself or others in danger. Driving requires your undivided attention, especially when driving under load, which can impact visibility, speed and, turning, stopping power and lane changes.

The most important thing to remember is to not do anything that distracts you from focusing on the road.

Some tips:

• Don’t text and drive – most mobile devices now come with voice activation functions that can send messages and read incoming text messages out loud.
• Don’t eat and drive – pull over to the side of the road. Take a break, you’ve probably earned it.
• Don’t let your mind wander – focus on the road ahead of you and the other drivers around you.
