STEPS TO USING A PORTABLE JUMP STARTER

Use the following steps to ensure the safe and correct use of a portable jump starter.

1. EQUIP YOURSELF WITH SAFETY GLASSSES & GLOVES

2. CHECK YOUR MANUFACUTURES RECOMMENDATIONS

Each vehicle is different and could have specific instructions for safely boosting the battery.

3. CONNECT RED CLAMP TO POSITIVE

The red (positive) clamp should always be connected to the dead battery first for the safest and most predicable outcome.

4. CONNECT BLACK CLAMP TO NEGATIVE

This should be done after the red clamp is connected to the positive. It can also be connected to sturdy metal on the car frame to ground the connection.

5. TURN ON POWER TO PORTABLE

Saving this step until after the clamps are connected to the battery reduces the risk of the live clamps touching, causing a spark.

6. START THE VEHICLE

Use keys to start the vehicle.

7. TURN OFF & REMOVE PORTABLE

With the power off, you do not have to worry about touching loose clamps

8. KEEP THE CAR RUNNING FOR 30 MINS

This will ensure the vehicle battery keeps a charge.
