When You Hire an Employee

WHEN YOU HIRE AN EMPLOYEE

Introduce them to everyone in the company – include operators and administrative staff. This helps build trust and promotes teamwork.

Formally explain the structure of the company – outline what’s expected of them, who they report to and how they should perform each task.

Review the employee handbook / manual with them – this should cover all the information they need to know about their employment (including benefits, salary, scheduling, etc.) as well as processes for completing tasks. Have them sign the manual when they are done.

Put them on a probation period – give them 90 days (or whatever your company requirement is) to show they are a member of your team, understand the company processes and procedures. Explain they will receive a review at the end of the probation period.

Properly train new employees – whether they claim to be experienced or not, going through training with a new employee is always important. For experienced operators, have them prove to you they know what they are doing.
