Setting the Standard

SETTING THE STANDARD

There are a number of critical steps involved in any tow, recovery or transport, and we review them at the start of every course as a reminder of their importance to staying safe out there.

DAILY VEHICLE INSPECTION

Ensure your vehicle is thoroughly inspected every day, and whenever there’s a driver change. A daily inspection will examine the general condition of the vehicle, the engine compartment, the power unit and the wrecker unit. Document any defects on an inspection report. A clean truck is necessary to conducting a thorough inspection.

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

Your clothing and accessories are important to your safety, professionalism and preparation for unexpected circumstances while on the job. Work gloves, high vis safety clothing, eye and head protection (if necessary) and steel-toed footwear are must-haves. Get the respect you deserve by dressing neatly, identifying yourself with an ID badge and wearing a company uniform. Other accessories, such as a pocket knife, calculator and pens, are important tools for the job that might not always be in your truck but should always be on your person.
