THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD PENMANSHIP
Throughout an operator’s daily, weekly, monthly and yearly routine, there will be a significant amount of paperwork that coincides with their job. Whether it is personal notes and calculations or a document that is required by your company or local transportation authority, quality penmanship is important. While many companies have switched to paper free and digital options, clear, concise and legible writing is still a vital skill to have and will benefit every operator and those they work with. Invoices or any paperwork that will be presented to a customer must also be completely legible.
THE IMPORTANCE OF USING PROPER LANGUAGE
Whether or not your company uses handwritten documentation or digital, proper language must be used at all times. This does not simply mean avoiding inappropriate language – thought we do recommend doing this. Proper language refers to maintaining a professional voice in all paperwork and documentation. This means refraining from using slang and abbreviations, particular anything that would not be commonly known outside of the towing industry. When working on any form of paperwork or documentation, ensure that your copy is polite, accurate, professional and free of spelling errors. This includes digital messages such as work-related text messages and emails.
