SOME TIPS FOR REPREMANDING EMPLOYEES

  1. Do it as soon as possible – do not dwell on your disappointment, it can cause it to grow

  2. Do it in private – there is reason to embarrass the employee in front of the rest of the company

  3. Explain what the mistake was and how it could have been avoided

  4. Explain the severity of the mistake – don’t make a mountain out of a molehill and vice versa

  5. Explain how it made you feel – angry, annoyed, frustrated, concerned, etc.

  6. Confirm that the employee understands what they’ve done wrong and know how to prevent the mistake in the future

  7. Reinforce your support for the employee and how competent you believe they are

  8. Keep it short

  9. Always finish on a positive note
