LOADING & UNLOADING WITH NO KEYS
What happens when an operator is tasked with towing a vehicle with no keys? This is a scenario that many towing operators face everyday, whether it be a customer who has misplaced their keys or a repossession. It is important for a light-duty operator to be able to safely tow with no keys without damaging the vehicle and with the right tools and knowledge, this can be easily done.
USING SKATES WITHOUT KEYS
The WreckMaster skate is a great tool anytime a vehicle with locked wheels needs to be loaded on a car carrier. They allow the casualty to slide more easily along the ground without causing damage to the wheels. By placing a skate under all four wheels an operator should be able to safely winch the casualty on to the bed of the carrier. By using the skates, an operator can then follow the same steps they normally would for loading on a carrier.
USING DOLLIES WITHOUT KEYS
Dollies are a great solution when towing a vehicle that is stuck in park or has locked wheels as they replace the wheels as the rolling surface. The dolly can be used to tow the vehicle to it’s location, however it’s important to know that dollies are not meant for long distances or high speeds. Dollies should typically set up on the rear wheels and the vehicle towed from the drive axle. Once the dollies are set up, be sure to secure the vehicle to the dollies via the wheels.
