Becoming a Trainer

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

As a certified trainer, you contribute to enhancing road safety by ensuring that new drivers are well-prepared and competent. You’ll play a key role in professionalizing the industry, promoting safe towing practices, and reducing accidents. Additionally, being a trainer provides career growth opportunities, increased credibility, and the satisfaction of making a meaningful impact on both drivers’ careers and public safety. It also allows you to stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.

Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)

A satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), for the instructor, from the local police service with jurisdiction over the instructor’s current address, dated within one year prior to this application. A Driver’s Abstract that reflects that Instructor has a valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence or higher and no more than four
(4) demerit points.

(4) demerit points.

Experience
Evidence of a minimum experience of 4 years within the last five (5) years of this application, in the towing industry as a professional tow truck driver, a towing instructor, CVOR holder, or some combination of these occupations; or

Instructors who do not have adequate towing field experience can instead present either a certificate of completion for a course in adult education or verifiable experience teaching using adult education methodologies.

Training Location Address(es) – include if instructor will be providing in-person training at a location not listed in the original Course Provider Tow Truck Driver Training Program application.

Train the Trainer Program

Appon approval, a course outline will be provided to you. The outline has been approved by the MTO and is part of the mandatory requirement towards a trainees’ Certification. You must be able to strictly adhere to this outline to insure that everyone is held to the same standards. Failure to do so may mean an immediate withdrawl from the Train the Trainer Program.
